How to Deal When Your Business Partner isn’t Pulling their Weigh

At first, everything felt pretty balanced. It’s like you found the blueprint to partnership success, right? So, you had your roles, your goals, your late-night planning sessions that somehow made work feel fun. But lately? Well, you’re doing all the things, and they’re… kind of just there. For example, maybe they’re showing up late, missing calls, dropping the ball and not even acting like it matters.

And now, it’s weird. Like, it’s way too weird, what gives, right? Basically, you’re carrying way more than you signed up for, but you’re also tiptoeing around it like it’ll magically fix itself. Well, somethings got to give.

There’s Just this Shift You Can’t Ignore

Okay, so for starters, it always starts slowly. Maybe you pick up a few extra tasks here and there, just to keep things moving. No big deal, right? But then suddenly you’re doing everything and starting to wonder if you’re being dramatic for feeling annoyed.

You’re not. You’re just noticing what happens when a business partnership starts getting lopsided. And the longer it stays that way, the more it eats at you. You keep thinking, “Do I bring it up? Do I wait it out? Do I just silently rage-text my group chat about it every day?” Oh yeah, that last one’s tempting, but it won’t fix anything.

Talk About it Without Making is Weird

Well, it’s true, bringing it up feels awkward. Like, a little too much, right? But at the same time, it’s totally normal. But yeah, no one wants to be the person who starts “the talk,” but honestly? It’s better than pretending like nothing’s wrong while secretly resenting your partner over every unread email.

But in all seriousness here, you need to just keep it real. Be direct, but chill. No guilt trips. Just tell them what’s not working and how it’s starting to weigh you down. If they’re reasonable, they’ll hear you out. If they’re not… well, that tells you a lot too. Again, it’s not ideal, but it’s something you really need to think about.

When it’s Time to Bring in a Pro

So, just piggybacking on the above, if you’ve talked it out and things are still stuck, or getting worse, that’s your sign. Again, the whole awkwardness is normal, but at the same time, you don’t have to burn it all down. You also don’t have to keep dragging dead weight. Please read this again, and just know that there are options for you.

Basically, in these situations, you might need to look into a good lawyer, like one from Kolmogorov Law, since they can handle partnership disputes without turning everything into a full-on meltdown. They get that it’s not always about winning or losing, but it’s more about figuring out what happens next. But really, it can’t be stressed enough to look into legal help.

You Don’t Have to so Everything Forever

Well, running a business is already enough. But doing it while managing someone else’s half, too? That’s not sustainable, like the furthest thing from it, honestly. If you’ve been carrying things solo for longer than you care to admit, it might be time to make a move. Seriously, just say the hard thing. Go ahead and set support. But of course, just protect the thing you’ve built.
