5 Ideas To Support Employee Wellbeing

To drive success for your organization, it’s important to invest in your team’s well-being. Happy and engaged employees produce creative and high-quality projects, while disengaged staff produce quite the opposite. Creating a company culture that nurtures wellbeing is beneficial for morale, brand image, and growth. To support the wellbeing of your staff, try using the following five ideas.

1. Provide Mental Health Workshops

According to Mental Health First Aid, ‘In the United States, almost half of adults (46.4 percent) will experience a mental illness during their lifetime.’ To support the mental health of your staff it can be useful to provide mental health themed workshops. Educational workshops are a great way to normalize mental health issues and help your staff to gain a deeper understanding.

2. Offer Self Care Resources

Deloitte. A survey conducted by Deloitte concluded that 77% of employees had experienced burnout, and half of these had experienced burnout on more than one occasion. Deloitte suggested that ‘The survey also uncovered that employers may be missing the mark when it comes to developing well-being programs that their employees find valuable.’

Offering self-care resources for employees is an excellent way to invest in staff wellbeing. For example, there are plenty of self-care apps which can support wellbeing and mental health:

  • Headspace: Headspace is a popular meditation app that helps users to practice meditation, learn about mindfulness, and cope with anxiety and stress. Each day, users are presented with meditations on new topics; the idea is to access deeper relaxation levels and challenge negative thought patterns.
  • Shine: Shine is an app that supports users to learn new self-care techniques each day. Shine has an extensive library of exercises, a self-care community, and meditations.

3. Wellbeing Gifts

Wellbeing gifts are the perfect way to boost morale. Businesses with a strong company culture are more successful than those businesses without. One of the best ways to build a strong company culture is to promote positive relationships, foster a sense of community, and ensure that everyone feels valued. Wellbox has some great gifts for staff; their well-being boxes include plenty of tasty (and healthy) snacks with personalized messages.

4. Flexible Work Patterns

Studies show that flexible work patterns make for healthier and happier employees. By offering flexible work patterns, you’ll afford your staff more freedom. With a sense of freedom, it’s far more likely that creativity will thrive. Examples of flexible working arrangements include remote working opportunities, the ability to choose hours, and birthdays off.

5. Improve Working Environment

A healthy and aesthetically pleasing working environment will help to boost the wellbeing of your staff. Decorate your workspace using bright colours, to inspire a positive energy. Use plants to raise endorphin levels and filter the air of toxins. Consider purchasing air filters and under desk bikes to create a healthier environment.

When choosing your furniture, choose ergonomic furniture items. Doing so will keep your employees safe, ensuring that they do not obtain injuries. Small changes like these can make a huge difference to wellbeing and to your office environment.
