future of solar energy Archive

  • The cost of energy seems to be heading steadily upward, especially in California, despite all the efforts to keep things low. There is a big push for green energy, however, which may end up being very much to your advantage. The great thing about sunlight is that it’s always free, which is why electric solar panels in Lake Forest may very well be as much an investment as a practical idea for those looking to save money on their energy bills. While solar power is effectively free, the solar panels are not. However, that doesn’t mean the average person can’t afford them. In its eagerness to promote green energy, the state and federal governments have allowed for many rebates, discounts, and tax incentives for electric solar panels in Lake Forest, and in other places all over Cailfornia. These solar panels, more formally known as photovoltaic panels, are composed of a...

  • Solar panels are now in use across the world. The most logical place to take advantage of solar panels would probably be the Equatorial regions, which would normally stand the best chance of reliable generation. As demand increases among newly developing countries such as Brazil and India, their output will almost certainly climb to match that of the European producers. Although China is dependent on huge fossil-fuel power stations it is also developing much of the world’s solar technology and is a major manufacturer, and it is set to develop as a major user of solar power. Currently, energy use is concentrated among centres of dense population, and the top 5 energy producers are all developed countries. 1. Germany Despite being located in northern Europe and not renowned for its golden sunshine, Germany ranks as the world’s largest purchaser and user of solar panels. It has a solar photovoltaic capacity of almost 25 gigawatts (as of 2011) and...

  • For users of solar energy the long-term benefits of installation are evident, although developments in the near future are less clear. The reduction in development costs has already led to greater accessibility for users, but government feed-in tariffs are set to be reduced by half if installation occurs after December 2011, and this means future users will face a reduced return on what that they can feed back in the system, reducing their potential savings. Feed-in tariffs, the amount that users can expect to earn for contributing to the national grid, are now much reduced and this is seen as less of an encouragement to benefit from a generous subsidy. Although this is down to cost-cutting measures from the treasury, the decision has struck a chord with domestic and industrial users of solar power, particularly with reference to the controversy over the development of wind farms as alternative large-scale forms of energy generation. The fact remains that these...

  • The UK government has sent shock waves through the solar market after moving forward its proposed changes to the Feed In Tariff for renewable energy. For those that didn’t know the UK government implement a guaranteed price for small scale solar production back in april 2010 with the aim of stimulating the industry and investment. Small scale rooftop systems were guaranteed a fixed price of 43p per Kwh for all energy produced. This proved a resounding success and kick started the UK solar market and a plethora of spin off industries. However over the past 18 months the price of solar panels and support equipment has fallen by nearly a half. In short, solar was never meant to be this profitable and the government are doing everything they can to redress this. They have decided to drop the feed in tariff to 21p per Kwh. By doing so many believe...
